3.6GHz Pentium 4 to be introduced in June?

According to various sources, Intel is to introduce Grantsdale and Alderwood chipsets on the 4th week of June. At least that´s what OEM companies told Japanese PC Watch. So, it turns out that 775-pin 90nm P4 and P4 Extreme Edition are to be introduced simultaneously.

In June Intel (according to existing roadmaps) is to unveil 2.8-3.6GHz P4 with 520 to 560 ratings as well as LGA775 3.2 and 3.4 GHz P4 EE. Besides, we should also see 2.8GHz P4 for a new socket, but it will support only 533MHz FSB and won´t support HyperThreading. Meanwhile, 3.6GHz P4 that is to be announced in June will be offered only for 775-pin sockets. The same for 3.8GHz (expected about August) and 4GHz (expected about October 2005) P4 processors with 570 and 580 respective ratings.

All these models will be released along with Socket 775 Celeron products. In June we are to see 2.8GHz Celeron 335, in August — 2.93GHz Celeron 340, in October 3.06GHz Celeton 345, in Q1 2005 — 3.2GHz Celeron 350. Unlike P4, these Celerons will be offered for Socket 478 platforms as well: 2.35GHz Socket 478 Celeron 325 and 2.66GHz Celeron 330 are expected in June. 2.53-2.8GHz Celerons will be the first products of the new classification made using 90nm process.

As for the chipsets, in June we should see Alderwood 925X and Grantsdale 915P and 915G, all supporting 90nm P4, (Grantsdale will also support Celerons). Besides, Grantsdale will support 533MHz FSB, while Alderwood will only operate with 800MHz.
