Phanteks Announces Halos Series RGB Fan Frames

Phanteks released today their latest products, the Halos and Halos LUX RGB fan frames. Announced at Computex 2017, the Halos are RGB LED embedded fan frames that disperse light evenly across any fan blades. The Halos RGB fan frames bring elegance and style to your system without compromising performance.

The Phanteks' Halos RGB fan frames complements any system build with ambient illumination. Using high density LEDs, the Halos can illuminate different varieties of fans including high performance fans made from PBT material. The Halos can be daisy-chained to all of Phanteks RGB products and synchronized with Phanteks case or third-party motherboards using our RGB motherboard adapter (*PH-CB_RGB4P).
Phanteks Halos Series will be available in two variants, the Halos (plastic) and Halos Lux (aluminum), in September 2017.

Saw the PR on Phanteks page today, only fans for which those fan frames will work are the fans with either white/black/transparent/black tinted blades.

Sooo.......99% of the fans on the market

I'm pretty sure they'll work with any color fan blades depending on the color you choose. If they illuminate black, they'll illuminate any other color.

Unlike Silverstone Fan Grill, this relies on the fan blades to reflect light, so depending on the blade colour reflected light will look different.

I hate how companies advertise RGB but never say how many colors. 256,16.8m or 16.7m.?

Totally
At those prices for the lux variants might as well just buy rgb fans

Pretty sure color accuracy is more dependent on the software driving the lights than a property inherent to the bulbs

I think the issue is with non-black/white hubs, throwing colors off because of blending.

It's a good concept, if you already have expensive high quality fans and just want a little color. I like the aluminum version, great finishing touch on a premium build. Adds 6mm to the thickness, so it might not fit if you're already pushing the limit with a fat rad or a short case.

I wish RGB craze existed during 56K modem era. Imagine RGB blinking in sync with the dial up connecting tone and then as data is getting transfered. :D

Yeah, it'd be just like movies and TV taught us to expect. I guess we're culturally disappointed in the reality, and now we're making up for lost time...funny you mention this right now, because I'm in the middle of watching a movie called Electric Dreams (1984), about an architect's first home computer, and all the flashing lights and beeps are pure Hollywood.

I've already asked phanteks directly and the Halo and HAlo Lux DO NOT have addressable LEDs, which is pretty lazy and stupid if you ask me considering EVERY new motherboard produced has an addressable LED plug. I feel like when they developed this product they just went for the minimum
