Did we miss the launch of Intel Xe-HPG discrete graphics?
A Game developer recommends unreleased Intel graphics
Frictional Games are now listing Intel Xe-HPG graphics as recommended for its upcoming horror game called Amnesia Rebirth.
This is definitely an error. Do not panic, Intel did not release the new graphics card series without telling anyone. We are quite sure that Frictional Games actually meant Xe-LP graphics. Even the minimum specs list Intel HD 630 (integrated graphics). So naturally, the recommend specs would list something faster (but not lightyears faster).
Intel Xe-HPG is next-generation discrete graphics coming in 2021. Intel has not provided any details on the series yet but promised that the discrete graphics card from Intel will offer GDDR6 memory and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The manufacturer confirmed that Xe-HPG will start shipping in 2021.
According to the rumors, Intel Xe-HPG devices will offer up to 960 Execution Units (7680 shading units), meaning that it should be able to compete with NVIDIA Ampere RTX and AMD RDNA2 series.
Frictional Games will release Amnesia Rebirth tomorrow (October 20th).
Intel also confirmed that the series will be manufactured by an external foundry and will span across mid-range to enthusiast segments:
