[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics’ mobile business chief Koh Dong-jin has urged employees to tighten security before the release of the firm’s next flagship smartphone Galaxy S8.

In an email sent to employees on Dec. 15, Koh said, “I feel deeply regretful to hear news of the recent attempts at data breach and prototype leak,” calling for caution over a possible leak of corporate information.

“Samsung had a bitter experience due to the leak of important data -- on product design and business strategies -- to China and consequently suffered damages in the past.”

His call for tightened security came as speculations are increasing on the firm’s next flagship smartphone.

The tech giant has reportedly completed its internal investigation to find the cause of explosions of the Note 7, and reported its findings to outside laboratories, such as the Korea Testing Laboratory and UL.

After losing face with its short-lived Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has been preparing to make a strong comeback with the Galaxy S8 next year.

The S8, expected to feature a bezel-less, curved display and an iris scanner, is likely to be released in April next year.
