OnePlus finally updates OnePlus 5T and 5 with Project Treble support

Several months ago OnePlus promised to include the Project Treble support for both the OnePlus 5 and 5T in a OxygenOS update. Today, this update is finally arriving for those who have been waiting so long for getting all the benefits of Google’s Treble.

The Project Treble will ease the life of developers, and allow users to flash many custom ROMs GSIs (Generic System Image) on their Project Treble compliant OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T. The update was promised back in June, and today is available in the stable update channel of OxygenOS.

The update also bring some important improvements for the Indian customers, and you can check the changelog below:

Changelog:

  • System
    • Supported Project Treble
    • Supported IDEA India VoLTE (Default On)
    • Improved Bluetooth stability for phone calls
    • Updated Android security patch to 2018.10

Project Treble will also benefit developers in bringing future Android updates for the handset. It basically separates the Hardware Vendor files from the operating system framework. This year we saw how fast Android Pie arrived for devices that are Treble-compliant.

We just hope that through Treble support, the company manages to bring Android Pie for the 2017 flagships before the end of the year.
